I was thinking about all of the preparation teachers go through to get ready for their first day of school. Some of it is so that they are comfortable with what they will be teaching, but most of it is for the students. To help the students to feel safe and secure that first day of school or class. To make sure the expectations are set, the standards are high and procedures are put into place. Materials have been selected, books and films and supplies have been gathered and put into their respective spots. So much to get ready for.
As a parent, getting my children ready for school was buying new school clothes, gym shoes, school supplies, especially that box of Crayolas that had never been used, what a treat! Lunchboxes and items to go into those lunchboxes. A good night's sleep, a bus schedule and we were off and ready for school.
So much more thought on the part of the teacher than the parent that goes into this new school year. Hopes and expectations may be the same, however, the teacher is so responsible for the outcome of those academic standards. One wonders what spot is easier, a parent or a teacher. I chose both, and my life has been all the richer for the experience.

What I Learned Today
I hope that everyday you are learning something. To take away from every experience that you have is a valuable thing. Everyone has something to teach you. Every situation has something to show you. These lessons are precious, they teach you what to do and not to do in the future. Many times, it is God who is the teacher, many times it is your neighbor, your child or yourself.
This is what I learned today:
1) Human trafficking is happening in America (source: Joann Lyons)
2) Cowbirds are parasidic nesters (source: Audobon Society)
3) Mourning doves will sit on your deck in the pouring rain (source: my observation)
4) God calls people who are willing to listen and follow (source: Joann Lyons)
5) What we know and don't know about Response to Intervention (source: journal article)
What have you learned today? Let me know!!

Firsts
There are lots of firsts in our lives that are memorable. First day of school, first look at color TV, first bus ride, first plane ride, first kiss, first loves, first children and first jobs. This is the first posting to this blog. I wanted a place to talk and ramble, think, explore and ask questions. A place to share anything I have learned over the years as the wisdom accumulates, I must share it to make room for more :) I will be sharing my life, my views, my opinions (I have lots of them) and thoughts for the day. The view from my window is just that...mine.
As I look out my window today, life looks good. What does your view look like today?
